2nd Internship well, it's 5th days of my second internship at Sentosa Leisure Group, yet again, and i already feel like i've been there for 5 months... lol... anyway, it's very very different from Universal Studios... but still, i have learnt alot of things even on my 1st day! 1st day there was rather relaxing... and the staff were nice! like the receptionist, whom i wont mention her name... she greeted us (Hwee Chen and I, and 4 other interns) and asked for our names and introduced herself too... which i think is a very god practice, unlike when i first went to USS, the "atas" ppl didnt really introduced themselves and i didnt even know who was the manager. Hwee Chen and I are under the Marketing Department and the rest are under Event... but we still work closely with each other, since they're the closest people who we can get in contact with. My boss, who is very kind towards us, also introduced us to the Marketing Director, the big boss... hahaha... then we were given our 1st tasks! such as finding contacts from all the schools that we will be targeting, do research on our potential competitors and know more about our past year event. 2nd day we were asked to set dates to go down to various schools and come out with our action plans on what we are going to do at schools. just like doing project, we need to think on how to reach out to our target market in the simplest and effective ways so that they are well-informed on our event. it is actually quite tedious as we need to think what is best for the youths and what they are attracted to nowadays. in addition, our event would be commenced on october, when most of the polytechnics would start the semester on that month. thus, it gave us headache as we've to think on how to get to poly students during the vacation period. 3rd and 4th day we had to, again, provide a more detailed action plan at schools, like the time we will reach there, how long we are going to spend and so on. we also drafted an email to be sent to the student unions from every schools, think modes of payments that youths might use, prizes to be given and more. we also had to reschedule the dates to visit the schools since we have to minimise the budget for renting costumes... and today, we went to pray (coz it's 7th months). they said they need blessings for nice weather, to reach the sales and etc. and, obviously, i just went there to get the experience, since i dun "bai bai". well, the weather hasnt been helping us today... it was raining the whole day and we had to delay the "offering" (burning the papers). after that, went back to office to view the creative agents on their proposals for our event's microsite. and Hwee Chen and I selected a few designes which we think are suitable for our event theme and the youths. we also sent the emails to the schools' student unions for our arrival. so today has been quite a fruitful day!
